The Portland metro and Willamette Valley have estate sales running almost every weekend. The trick is knowing where to find them.

EstateSales.NET is the main listing site. Most professional companies, including us, post their sales there with photos, dates, and directions. You can filter by city and set up email alerts for Portland, Beaverton, Hillsboro, or wherever you want to shop.

Facebook Marketplace and local groups also post sales. Search for "Portland estate sales" or "Willamette Valley estate sales" and you'll find community groups where companies announce their upcoming events.

When to go

Friday morning is when the serious buyers show up. If you want first pick of the best items, be there when the doors open. Some people line up 30 minutes early.

Saturday is still good but the standout pieces are usually gone. Sunday is markdown day. If you're looking for deals and don't care about selection, Sunday afternoon is your time.

Tips for buyers

Bring cash. Most sales take cards now but some don't, and cash gives you room to negotiate on the last day.

Wear comfortable shoes. You're going to be on your feet walking through someone's house for an hour or more.

Know the etiquette. Don't open closed drawers without asking. Don't try to bargain on Friday morning. Don't bring your dog.
