Best Time of Year for Estate Sales in Oregon

Tina

Spring is the busiest season

March through June is when the Willamette Valley lights up with estate sales. The weather cooperates, people are more likely to come out, and families who put off dealing with a house over the winter finally get moving.

We start booking spring sales in January. By March our calendar is usually full through May. If you're planning a sale, book early.

Fall is the second peak

September and October are busy again. Summer vacations are over, the rain hasn't started yet (usually), and there's a push to get houses cleared before the holidays.

November and December slow down. Nobody wants to run a sale the week of Thanksgiving, and holiday schedules make staffing harder.

Winter sales happen too

January and February are quieter, but that's not always bad. Less competition means your sale gets more attention. The buyers who show up in the rain on a Saturday in February are serious. They're not browsing. They're buying.

We ran a Salem Victorian sale in late January and it did well. Fewer sales that weekend meant more eyes on ours.

Best days of the week

Friday is king. Dealers and collectors hit Friday mornings hard because that's when the best stuff is still available. Saturday brings the general public. Sunday is bargain hunters.

If you're looking for deals, show up Sunday afternoon. If you want the good furniture and tools, be there Friday at 9 AM.

When should you schedule your sale?

If you have flexibility, aim for a spring weekend with no major holidays or competing events. We'll help you pick the right dates. Get in touch and we'll look at the calendar together.
